Building the Nahual transformation system
How the jaguar and eagle forms change traversal, combat range, and what the world lets you reach.
The Nahual is not a costume swap. Each animal form changes what the world lets you reach, so the level design has to answer to all of them at once.
The jaguar trades reach for closing speed: it crosses open ground before an archer can draw, and it climbs surfaces the warrior form has to walk around. The eagle gives sightlines instead of force — height, and the seconds you need to read a fight before entering it.
The cost is deliberate. Time in animal form burns the same resource that feeds your rituals, so the question is never whether to transform, but what you are willing to spend it on.
